TEACHER CREATED: Waterfall/Landscape

Waterfall 1 & 2 are my favorite "find" in Kandinsky's portfolio!!!!  I love these images and see this being a great lesson for teaching foreground, middle ground, and background.  There are many ways this can be "done".  You can use watercolor pencils, paint, oil pastels, water soluble oil pastels, oil pastels and black watercolor, crayon, water based markers w/water & brush......really it is endless!!! I felt the teachers did a BEAUTIFUL job on their examples...and I'd hang any one of them in my home!!!  Beautiful job teachers!!  

TEACHER CREATED: Landscape

This project was inspired by BLUE(above image).  However we added a landscape into the picture.  We used oil pastels, but this can be done with any media.  

TEACHER CREATED: Grid Format Collage

This image connects to the previous post, but in a "grid" format.  You know your students and what they can handle.  It could be as simple as a 4 up grid....to a 30 up grid.  You decide what will work best.  This could be collage...marker....or collage and marker.

This is image lends itself to creating work with focal point, symmetry/asymmetry, color families(if you decide to go that route).

The teachers were encouraged to use oil pastels to create their city/village scapes, but any media could be used.  The colors of Kandinsky's picture were a key inspiration point for this lesson.

The first day of the Kandinsky Professional Development for elementary art teachers was a success!  Everyone seemed to have a great time as we explored the amazing work of Kandinsky...and created teacher examples of possible projects they will take back to their classrooms.  We are having a 2nd day to get as many of our teachers in as possible.  I, Mr.E, lead day one.  Ms. Malone will be leading day 2.  We worked together to create the lessons...and pretty much share a brain!  So I know the teachers her session will love it just as much!!  I'll post the teacher examples so you can see what everyone came up with!!  

Thanks again to The Frist Center for the Visual Arts for hosting us!!!  We can't wait for the Kandinsky exhibit to open at the end of the month!!
