TEACHER CREATED: Collage

This is image lends itself to creating work with focal point, symmetry/asymmetry, color families(if you decide to go that route).

TEACHER CREATED: City/Village Scapes

The teachers were encouraged to use oil pastels to create their city/village scapes, but any media could be used.  The colors of Kandinsky's picture were a key inspiration point for this lesson.

TEACHER CREATED: Concentric Birds

Here are the examples created by teachers at our Kandinsky PD held on Sept 2nd.

Kandinsky PD With Mr. E

The first day of the Kandinsky Professional Development for elementary art teachers was a success!  Everyone seemed to have a great time as we explored the amazing work of Kandinsky...and created teacher examples of possible projects they will take back to their classrooms.  We are having a 2nd day to get as many of our teachers in as possible.  I, Mr.E, lead day one.  Ms. Malone will be leading day 2.  We worked together to create the lessons...and pretty much share a brain!  So I know the teachers her session will love it just as much!!  I'll post the teacher examples so you can see what everyone came up with!!

Thanks again to The Frist Center for the Visual Arts for hosting us!!!  We can't wait for the Kandinsky exhibit to open at the end of the month!!

THE Website for Kandinsky!

This is the most AMAZING website for Kandinsky.  I learned so much by going through his work, looking through the links, and reading information concerning his life and work.  I'm completely inspired by this site...and feel I could teach just about anything using the work of Kandinsky!!!  His style, composition, colors, subject matter....so much diversity to inspire you and your students!!!

All of our suggestions are lined up with the MNPS Visual Art Curriculum/Pacing Guide.
